It took years to fight out through freedom of information requests the regular reports about side-effects, that are legally required by pharma-companies.

Based on this breakthrough in Denmark a Danish-Dutch-Belgian team of the Irene Reporters Network set out to look into the upcoming EU-legislation on pharmaceutical and the ongoing lobbying in Brussels.

The stories reveal how European pharmaceutical companies try to put the lid on disquieting information about potential side effects from an array of commonly used medicines, the power of the pharmaceutical lobby in influencing European legislation, and the new policies which aim at permitting drug advertising.
