EIJC18 - Bringing journalism into a new era - Friday keynote Joris Luyendijk

The very role of journalism in society is challenged these years. Digital bubbles, financial bubbles, loss of credibility – you name it. Dutch Joris Luyendijk is among the most courageous and persistent journalists challenging journalism routines of thinking and doing.

Only clear thought and patient experiments will adapt our profession into the new era with all its digital, financial and ethical challenges. One of the most visionary, persisent and succesful innovators of the craft is Dutch Joris Luyendijk. Combining anthropology with journalism he started his splendid career as Middle East correspondent for major daily newspaper NRC Handelsblad, as entrepreneurial journalist in his native Netherlands, his breakthrough experiment with the Banking Blog project at the Guardian and most recently in collaboration with media innovator De Correspondent his quest to meet and talk with those of his fellow Dutch, who voted for the national far right party.

Read more about Joris Luyendijk on his professional website, on Wikipedia, read his Banking Blog at the Guardian or have a glance (eventually via Google Translate) at his most recent work with De Correspondent in the Netherlands.
