Benjamin Hindrichs is a German award-winning journalist, writer and documentary filmmaker, combining investigative reporting, creative storytelling and in-depth political analysis.

His journalistic work mainly touches upon the far-right, migration and conflict. It has been published in, among others, ZEIT, Krautreporter, Al Jazeera English, Mongabay, Mediapart, La Repubblica, Diari Ara, Daraj and Euractiv.

His short documentary DARU/N (PASSED/MOTHER) premiered at Sitges Film Festival 2024, where it won the awards for best direction and best screenplay in the "Nova Autoría" competition.

Born in 1995, Ben has lived, worked and studied in Germany, Spain, Greece, Bolivia, Syria, Chile, Serbia, Denmark, Czechia, and Brazil. He speaks German, English, Spanish, Portuguese and basic Catalan and is trained in OSINT and trauma-informed reporting.

His work has been supported by grants and fellowships from, among others, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Journalismfund.eu, Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU), Earth Journalism Network, Heinz-Kühn-Foundation and Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.

Ben holds a B.A. in Governance and Public Policy with a focus on right-wing extremism, terrorism and anti-Semitism from the University of Passau, and a M.A. in Journalism, Media and Globalisation from Aarhus University and Charles University Prague.
