Paulina Olszanka is an Australian journalist covering Poland for The Times and The Sunday Times.

Paulina has covered the refugee crisis at the Polish-Belarusian border and reported extensively on the fallout from the war in Ukraine. She is also interested in how people, especially those disenfranchised, understand the world that they live in, and how their grassroots activity can affect political change.  

A journalist with twenty years experience, Paulina has reported for The Times, the Guardian, the Economist, the Telegraph, TVP1, the Japanese Broadcast Corporation, Polish Press Agency, De Volkskrant, Notes from Poland, Przekrój, Krytyka Polityczna, New Socialist, Fairfax Media, Crikey, Overland and Axel Springer.

She has also had roles as a solutions journalism project manager and is a lecturer in long-term feature writing at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw. She also holds degrees in anthropology, sociology and journalism and has published academic articles about the foodways crisis in Europe. She is now on book leave, writing about the changing metaphysics of Polish politics.
