Magma is an Italian-based nonprofit organisation dedicated to reporting on the ways climate and environmental crises are impacting the Mediterranean region through Magma magazine and Lapilli newsletter digests in English and Italian.

Magma documents the transformations the Mediterranean region is going through, by embracing a geographical dimension that goes beyond national borders of a basin interconnected by many points of view.

In this sense, it intends to speak to and include in our work a wide range of people who do not feel represented in the traditional public discourse, and to give a voice to those who live on the frontlines of the unfolding environmental and climate crises.

Lapilli newsletter exists since March 2022 and in 2023 it was one of the finalists for the Covering Climate Now Awards. This year, Magma received a prize from Turin's Readers Club for both Lapilli and Lapilli+.

A New Mediterranean Magazine Was Born

FLORENCE, ITALY — Magma addresses the lack of a broader regional perspective on the environmental and climate crises affecting Mediterranean countries. Through our newsletters, social media and the proposed magazine, we not only aim to inform but also instill a sense of community and shared purpose among our audience.
