Mission

If journalists want to fulfill their role in society properly, they have to research their stories thoroughly and across borders. Journalismfund.eu aims to support this task.

Context

Politics, business, organisations and even organised crime work across borders – be that within own structures or through networking. Journalists can only fullfill their tasks as a watchdog in a democratic society, if they follow this development. Yet many journalists and editors are focused on purely national developments. Journalismfund.eu wishes to support journalists in fulfilling their role as attentive media through research grants for stories, that cross borders.

Aim

The aim of Journalismfund.eu is to promote quality, in-depth, cross-border journalism in Europe by giving journalists the chance to carry out journalistic research projects. The project should be one that, in principle, could not be realised in this format within the remit of regular journalism – a project that includes cross-border research, networking between colleagues, established and innovative investigative methods and that is at the same time original, innovative and intensive.

Independence

The working grants are independent from commercial or political interests. Financing is searched from various sources and considered carefully before being accepted. Journalismfund.eu guarantees that the work grants are given under complete, editorial independence.
