Entries for African Investigative Journalism Awards open
02/07
2012

JOHANNESBURG - The Forum for African Investigative Reporters (FAIR) is seeking entries to the 2012 African Investigative Journalism Awards, which recognizes outstanding investigative reporting in Africa. The deadline is 31 August 2012.

Interested journalists must be employed by a local media organization in Africa and can submit applications individually or as a group. The work must have been published between 1 July 2011 and 31 July 2012, in English, French, or Portuguese.

Entries must contain one journalistic document, whether an extract of a series, radio or TV document published or broadcast between July 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012. The deadline for entries is Friday, 31 August 2012.

The best investigative story or programme – print, radio, or television – will be awarded US$ 4,000 and the runner up will receive US$ 2,500. FAIR has created an Editor’s Courage Award, to the values of US$ 3,500, which honors editors working in a situation of political repression and censorship.

Check http://fairreporters.net/awards/ij-awards-rules/ for more details.

Please submit entries to the FAIR office, by email: admin [at] fairreporters [dot] org, or by post: 4th floor Mentone Centre, 1 Park Road, Richmond, Auckland Park, 2092, South Africa.

The African IJ Awards are sponsored by Free Press Unlimited (http://www.freepressunlimited.org) , and will be presented in Johannesburg during October 2012.
