BRUSSELS - During its September 2017 application round, Journalismfund.eu received 9 applications for grants. The total amount applied for was €91,580.

The nine teams consisted of 33 individual reporters from 20 nations in Europe and elsewhere in the world. Gender distribution was more balanced than ever with 16 women and 17 men applying for the European cross-border grant. 

The jury had €35,000 to distribute, which they granted to 4 projects. Applicants will hear from Journalismfund.eu this week.

Next call

The next call for the investigative cross-border grant applications will be on the 20th November 2017. 

The deadline will be closed at 11.59 pm Brussels time.

This research detects challenges and opportunities for local and community media in the 27 EU Member States, analysing the news deserts phenomenon from a holistic perspective.
