Join the launch of the Press Freedom Police Codex, organised by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) in the Brussels Press Club, Rue Froissart 95.

The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) believes that a critical dialogue is needed in the relationship between journalists and the police across the globe. Research has revealed that journalists blame the police, the police blame journalists, and the cycle continues. That is why ECPMF has teamed up with the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), Index on Censorship, Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT), Ossigeno per I’informazione, and the South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO) – to launch the Press Freedom Police Codex.

With this the ECPMF aims to start, maintain and even build good practice guidelines. For the discussion and dialogue, the European Confederation of Police (EuroCOP) will join the launch event. Such a dialogue that involves parties from the different sides, can be necessary for the de-escalation of tensions between the police and journalists and for building mutual respect.
