Investigative journalism is very much alive, but the resistance is increasing.
Fact resistance has become a concept and journalists are exposed to threats and hatred. In many countries, reporters risk their lives for investigative journalism. In our everyday lives it becomes increasingly difficult to get public documents. Digital development makes it increasingly complex to protect sources. The free press is under threat and censorship is increasing, even in Europe. At the same time, media houses are struggling against a failing economy.
Gräv 2020 wants to draw attention to the fact that investigative journalism is threatened in several ways. Then it becomes even more important that we meet and be inspired by each other, and not least discuss the challenges and difficulties that exist, and how we resist.
This year's excavation seminar will NOT take place in Borås March 20-21, 2020, but in September 2020. This was decided by the Association of the Journalist at a meeting on Tuesday 11 March. The reason is that the government has decided to put some restrictions on larger public groups to prevent further spread of the new covid-19 virus.
