RIGA - The Environmental Journalism School is a five-month online training and mentoring programme designed for Russian-speaking journalists in exile.

ATHENS – Learning by doing is an eight-month environmental investigative fellowship hosted by Reporters United, seeking two young professionals who are either interested in advancing environmental reporting or have limited experience in data and wish to pursue a career as data journalists.

NOVI SAD – This project trained Serbian journalists in how to present environmental data through visual storytelling.

FIRENZE - The second edition of the Magma Environmental Reporting Fellowship is happening! Applications were accepted until 31 August 2025.

BARCELONA – This project trains and supports emerging journalists around Europe, helping them integrate visual storytelling, data journalism, and environmental history into their investigative practice.

KYIV – This project aimed to empower independent regional journalists in Ukraine to investigate and report on critical environmental issues, while also drawing broader national and international attention to these challenges through strategic partnerships and visibility efforts.

CHISINAU – This intensive on-site training and support programme was designed for climate journalists from Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries and the European Union.

BARCELONA - This training programme aims to encourage collaboration between investigative journalists and photojournalists in order to raise awareness of desertification in Europe through innovative storytelling.

ARLES - This was a four-day hybrid workshop designed to equip 10 emerging documentary photographers or journalist with the skills, tools, and networks needed to produce in-depth, impactful environmental stories.

AMSTERDAM – The Investigative Teaching Lab was an intensive on-the-job training course for European investigative journalists, developed by The Investigative Desk, a Dutch non-profit for investigative journalism.

ONLINE – The goal of this fellowship programme was to train a first cohort of 3 environmental journalists working in different European newsrooms so they could involve citizens in their public-interest investigations by turning communities into active researchers.

ROME — Five dynamic workshops took place during the environmental investigative journalism festival “Le Parole Giuste”, on 27-29 of March 2025 in Rome.

ONLINE/LONDON – Dark Green was a free online training programme from The Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIJ). It focused specifically on helping journalists to more effectively follow the money in their environmental and climate investigations. 

KYIV / ONLINE — Internews Ukraine launched "The Green Watch: Environmental Investigative Program", training 20 environmental journalists through a series of nine workshops to address critical ecological issues and help them develop impactful, high-quality materials.

ROME - "Territori di inchiesta" project was created to empower young storytellers network in Italy to enhance climate investigative journalism and improve such coverage at the national level, as Italy is one of the places in the world that are most exposed to losses from extreme weather damage ...

MADRID / ONLINE - The Open Veins of Europe was an exchange programme for 29 journalists from Latin America and Europe, designed as a fellowship to explore the environmental issues that connect both regions.

ONLINE – This comprehensive three-part online workshop series aimed to support investigative journalists reporting on the complex intersection of migration and climate change in Europe.

SOFIA / RUSE— This cross-border training project for environmental investigative journalists, organised by the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) took place between July and November 2024. It focused on the ecological issues of the Black Sea region and the Danube River.

FIRENZE - The first edition of the online Magmatic School of Environmental Journalism took place online from October 2024 to February 2025. Nine journalists participated in it.

SILVER SPRING - GIJN has developed a detailed six-chapter guide designed especially for investigative reporters on how to investigate the fossil fuel industry. 

HAMBURG – The annual conference NR24 under the motto "Now is the time - Research for Democracy" took place on 19-20 July 2024. Eight sessions on climate journalism were supported by Journalismfund Europe.

TBILISI - This project, consisting of several phases, addressed the critical need for high-quality environmental investigative reporting in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
