SILESIA - The project mainly targets local audiences in Silesia, Poland, including young people and marginalised groups who consume news through social media platforms. The primary focus is on enhancing access to reliable information for digitally active users.
The project automates newsroom research and content adaptation tasks using AI. A research module will scan RSS feeds, websites, and social media twice daily, providing journalists with organised, verified news leads. Simultaneously, a multimedia processing module will automate the conversion of verified news content into short videos and graphics for social media. This system saves journalists' time, allowing a stronger focus on investigative reporting while providing fact-based information to users who primarily consume news via TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
Goals (expected) of the project
The project aims to enhance newsroom efficiency and increase the availability of verified, fact-based journalism on social media. By automating repetitive research and format creation tasks, journalists can focus more on investigative reporting. The initiative addresses media pluralism challenges by counteracting misinformation in social media-dominated news consumption, particularly among younger audiences. It promotes a human rights-based approach by ensuring diverse and marginalised voices are heard and encourages inclusion and equality by adapting content to reach various demographic groups through accessible, engaging formats.
