David Van Peteghem (°1976) is a freelance investigative journalist. 

He studied philosophy at the University of Antwerp. As a journalist, he closely follows events in West Africa and in particular Nigeria, Benin and Togo. His articles appear in Dewereldmorgen, Vrede and Kifkif.

A story that is directly connected but largely unknown, however, is how neighbouring Benin has become dependent on illegal oil smuggle from Nigeria for its fuel supply. One of the most conspicuous things about the Benin oil smugglers are the disabled smugglers on their strange Vespa tricycles.
