Mariana Verbovska is a Ukrainian environmental and climate change journalist with experience in traditional and online media. 

In 2017, she was a winner of the United Nations Media Contest ‘Publications for Changes’. In 2018 she received the ‘Honour of the Profession’ award (Ukraine) for the coverage of global warming. 

While a 2020 Milena Jesenská Visiting Fellow at Vienna’s Institute for Human Sciences, Mariana started her research on climate change communication in Europe.

In 2021-2022 she worked on a toolkit on Climate Change communication as a Fulbright Researcher at the Centre for Climate Change Communication, George Mason University (the USA). 

Mariana also regularly contributes to various European media.

ODESA - In February 2022, when Russia launched the full-scale invasion into Ukraine,  the Black Sea was one of its focal points. As a result, thousands of cetaceans died. This investigation looks into the faith of dolphins that became victims of the war.
