Marta Saiz is a freelance journalist and independent reporter based in Spain.  

She specialises in human rights, environment, migration, drug policy and addiction, with an intersectional perspective and a solutions journalism approach. She has field experience in more than 15 countries, including notable reports in Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Palestine, Greece and Iran. Her work has been published in El País, France 24, Público, Revista Late, Pikara Magazine, Revolve and Semanario Brecha, among others.

Marta has collaborated with international organisations and NGOs and has been awarded grants from Journalismfund Europe, the International Press Institute, and the Gabriel García Márquez Foundation. In 2021, she won the International Labour Organization (ILO) Global Media Award for Labour Migration.    

She focuses on written journalism but also works in audiovisual and radio formats. She is a member of the journalist collectives Revista Late and Mirada Colibrí.
