Vitalie Calugareanu is a Moldovan journalist with over 20 years' experience.

Since 1999, he has worked for various media outlets in Moldova, Romania, Germany and Russia, participating in numerous cross-border investigative projects. Since 2004, he has worked as DW correspondent in Moldova and also a hosts a political talk show. 

Calugareanu was part of the team of journalists who won the 2010 Global Shining Light Award for their investigation into Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin.

Recently, he has developed a keen interest in Russian-generated separatist conflicts, the military, financial and propaganda mechanisms of separatism, and the pursuit of the interests of Russian political oligarchic groups that profit from Russian-controlled separatist enclaves.
