Welcome to the Grävseminar in Gävle 2024! On 22-23 March, Swedish and international journalists will meet at Gävle Concert Hall.

The "Föreningen Grävande journalisters"'s annual "grav (digging) seminar" is the largest and most popular conference for Swedish journalists. It brings together media professionals from Sweden and other countries to learn more about investigative journalism and exchange experiences.

The "Gräveseminariet" has been organised since 1989 and attracts between 500 and 700 people every year.

During the seminar, Sweden's finest investigative prize - the Guldspaden - is awarded in a number of categories.

The prize is awarded by FGJ to journalists working in the Swedish media who, through committed and knowledgeable journalism, have revealed or portrayed important facts that the public has not been aware of. The investigation must be an original work, carried out independently.

An independent jury judges the entries submitted. The winners receive a bronze statuette by the artist Mats Lodén.

The award ceremony takes place in conjunction with the Digging Seminar and the Gold Spade Gala.

In addition, the Gold Shovel Jury has the opportunity to award the Jury's special prize to one or more journalists for an initiative or something else that has exceptionally promoted investigative journalism and therefore deserves special attention.
