Corporate Europe Observatory has investigated corporate lobby groups and their tactics for 26 years.
In this workshop we will first share some of our experiences in doing this work, highlight some key lobby strategies followed by corporations and their allies, and discuss some research tools that we use (and helped to build), such as LobbyFacts.
In the second part we will dive deeper into the corporate lobby attack on the EU Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy, that held the promise to make agriculture more sustainable and local, and to vastly reduce the emission of toxic chemicals into our environment. There are striking parallels to be seen between these attacks in different fields, such as chemicals, pesticides and animal welfare legislation. The current political dynamic, intensified with farmers protests, is leading to a radical shift towards anti-environmental pro-industry agenda for the next years to come. What can and will media do to expose this?
