BRATISLAVA/PRAGUE - This investigation reveals how Ukranian women searching for accomodation are open to exploitation in online spaces.

Two years after the beginning of the war, aid is scarce and Ukranian refugees find themselves facing extreme poverty and growing discrimination. This has terrible effects especially on the Ukrainian women. Two journalists from Slovakia and Czechia reveal how Ukranian women searching for accomodation are open to exploitation in online spaces.

By creating fake, undercover Facebook and other social media accounts pretending to be a young Ukrainian refugee woman looking for accommodation, the journalists reveal how these women are targeted by men. They also visited various accommodation facilities for Ukrainian refugees and interviewed Ukrainian women which revealed a common problem: Ukrainian women who search for accomodation are approached by men who offer accomodation in exchange for cleaning, cooking and sex.
