Boaventura Monjane is a Mozambican journalist and scholar with a deep commitment to issues of social justice.

He holds a degree in Journalism from Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo and a PhD in Postcolonialisms and Global Citizenship (Sociology) from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra.

Boaventura is an associate researcher at the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) at the University of the Western Cape, where his research focuses on agrarian movements, rural politics, food sovereignty, and climate justice.

He also serves as co-editor of the Grassroots Voices section in the Journal of Peasant Studies. Additionally, he is the Solidarity Programme Officer for West Africa and Haiti at Grassroots International, where he supports movements working towards justice and sovereignty across the Global South.
