CIEMPOZUELOS -Production of a serie of audio and video interviews about local women. Hence our team's digital skills are limited, the Grant will help  in our digitalization process. It will allow us to find new ways to reach a wider audience as well as younger generations.

We'll produce a serie of videos and podcast for which our staff will be trained on multimedia. For this purpose we'll bring in a consultant for 6 months to carry out journalistic projects with our team. This will make possible for us to find the best ways to reach more people, gather data and be able to carry out an audience analysis we weren’t able to study before. The editorial team will be trained on the ground in the following:

  • How to produce and publish a podcast
  • How to produce and publish video interviews
  • How writing for the web differs from writing for print
  • How to conduct an audience analysis
  • Forms of digital advertisement and crowdfunding
  • How to produce a non-fiction book-length investigation

Target group

Ciempozuelos, a small village in Madrid, is a news desert. La Torre has the only local magazine covering local events and news for the past 25 years. We are also 100% independent and nonpartisan. The town contains many institutionalized individuals at local psychiatric facilities and elder care homes. It also has one of the highest unemployment rates in the region. In other to train our team in different formats and tools and to explore which ones our audience is most receptive to, Ms. Mostoles will guide and train our team in the production of audio and video stories, as well as in the particularities of using a CMS (WordPress), and write for digital, including, but not exclusive to, image copyright, links, types and strategies for digital advertisements. All the training projects will have a common theme related to our town and include different team members to maximize the training reach.

Goals of the project

We would like to get our team trained on the ground while experimenting with journalistic formats to engage audiences and work on revenue sources. We expect to be guided and trained in the production of audio and video stories, as well as in the particularities of using a CMS (WordPress), and write for digital, including, but not exclusive to, image copyright, links, types and strategies for digital advertisements. We will gain experience in digital storytelling and be also able to evaluate our audience growth via our website and the hosting platforms our video and audio projects will be at.
We can explore different forms of advertisement and membership funding with these numbers.
