Mozilla and Pulitzer Center invite you to a workshop for journalists on how to shift the narrative on AI, at Mozilla Festival House in Amsterdam on June 12 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm CET at Tolhuistuin Cultural Center.

While there is no shortage of AI stories dominating our news feeds, these pieces often center around who has the power: *CEO tech bros competing in the ‘AI arms race’ — with fewer stories touching on how AI should or shouldn’t impact people’s lives and questioning the structures of power and inequality embedded in technology worldwide.

Does reporting on AI need a narrative shift? Absolutely! We are convening journalists who are breaking the mold from news that centers Big Tech, and investigative journalists focusing on social justice and human rights. Let’s discuss how coverage of AI intersects with issues of labor rights, climate justice, gender equality, etc. In summary, how can AI reporting (and the tech itself) center people over profit?

After the workshop, we will also be co-hosting a networking mixer with Pulitzer Center’s AI Accountability network to continue the conversation over refreshments.

Conversations at Mozfest are about how we can work together in solidarity across movements to make AI more trustworthy around the world. We sincerely hope you will join us.

Please confirm your availability to Tracy Kariuki at Mozilla Foundation, via the following email: tracy [at] mozillafoundation.org (tracy[at]mozillafoundation[dot]org)  by Monday, May 20. Please note that the workshop is invite-only. After you RSVP Tracy will send you a link to register for a free single ticket. We are also happy to consider invitations to other recommended colleagues in your network.

PS: Mozilla recently published an AI intersections database platform that maps out civil society organizations, social movement actors, and researchers, in the following social justice areas: disability justice, gender justice,  human rights, racial justice, community health, and collective security.
