The programme combines online and in-person training with practical exercises, mentorship and peer networking, enabling participants to develop skills and methodologies that can be applied directly to their journalistic work.
The programme will begin with a 2.5-hour online training on 8 October 2026, bringing together approximately 50 journalists from across Spain. It will cover current climate disinformation narratives, climate prebunking, FIMI and coordinated campaigns, digital investigation and monitoring techniques, verification tools, and participatory journalism through Maldita.es’ La Buloteca.
Following the online session, interested participants will be invited to develop and submit a proposal for a climate disinformation investigation they would like to pursue. The proposal is intended as a starting point for selection and development, and at least 20 journalists will then be selected to participate in a 1.5-day investigative bootcamp in Madrid on 14–15 November 2026.
During the bootcamp, participants will work with Maldita.es experts to further develop their proposed investigations, applying the methodologies and tools introduced during the programme. Following the bootcamp, participants will receive mentoring and editorial and technical support to continue developing their investigations towards potential publication in local and regional media. Participants will also join a national network for continued collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
