About the project
This project focused on exposing new ethical perspectives on European corporations' environmental activities in the global south. The media partners from Mediabridge were uniquely placed in their local contexts to explore how outsourced entities operate with a less ethical approach when it comes to the environment dimensions of their businesses compared to how the companies operate in their homeland in Europe. Through workshops, mentorships, and peer-to-peer collaborations, the project ran by Mediabridge enabled the journalists and media in these countries to build up their capacities and thus report on these European companies and institutions.
Practical information
On 27 and 28 September 2022 Mediabridge and its founders IMS and Danwatch arranged a two day virtual workshop on investigative environment reporting for global partners. The workshop also gave introduction to funding, networking, mentorship, and collaborative media plus funded the six best project ideas to be developed into investigations after the workshop.
The workshop gave participants tools to make the best investigative environmental reporting from their region – eg how to use data, get access to satellite footage, Right to Information Acts, safety precautions, how to tell their story in an impactful way, and get funding to be able to really go in depth with their story.
The workshop was arranged with the support and participation of Mediabridge, Journalismfund Europe, Environmental Investigative Forum, Arab Reporters For Investigative Journalism, Daraj, Dan watch and Internews Earth Journalism Network
The workshop took place on 27 September 2022 13 CET.
