Christian Braga is a freelance photographer and documentary filmmaker based in Manaus, in the Brazilian Amazon region. He has focused his work on the Amazon region for over 12 years, demonstrating a strong commitment to indigenous rights, environmental crimes and forest protection.
He has collaborated with national and international organisations, including Greenpeace, WWF, the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA), and the Pulitzer Center. In 2019, he won the POY Latam (Picture of the Year Latin America) photography award. In 2022, he received the Cultures of Resistance Awards (CoR Awards) in recognition of his activism.
His photographs and documentaries have appeared in publications such as National Geographic, The Guardian, Sumaúma, InfoAmazônia, Al Jazeera and The Intercept. His work has also been exhibited in museums and galleries in Brazil and around the world. In 2024, he will start a long-term project to create the photobook Resilient, focusing on abandoned industrial cities in the Brazilian Amazon.
