Daniel Etter is a German freelance filmmaker, photographer, and author.
Daniel documents human stories in conflict zones and crisis regions in words, still and moving images. In the past, he has worked extensively in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and along Europe's migration routes for major publications including The New York Times, Der Spiegel, Stern, Time, and Newsweek.
Since 2012, he has reported extensively on migration and refugee issues along Europe's external borders and conflict zones across the Middle East. In 2016, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the John Faber Award of the Overseas Press Club of America, and received third place in the World Press Photo Award and various awards at Pictures of the Year International. He is a graduate of the German School of Journalism, holding a master's degree in political science from the University of Bonn. He lives on a farm in Sant Aniol de Finestres, Spain, where he is involved in regenerative agriculture.
