Emmet is a multimedia journalist based in Kinshasa covering the Democratic Republic of Congo.
His work has appeared in NPR, the Guardian, the Economist, New Humanitarian and France24, among others. For more than three years, he was AFP's West Africa correspondent, reporting on everything from electoral violence in Guinea to Senegalese monks seeking the divine through kora music. He then became the agency's first English-language correspondent in the Democratic Republic of Congo, writing about illegal cobalt mining, voodoo wrestling and more, before going freelance in 2024. Earlier in his career, he worked for Politico Europe in Brussels, covering food and agriculture.
