Gregory Gondwe is a Malawian award-winning investigative journalist, editor and media consultant.
He was trained by Reuters Foundation, ICAR (International Centre for Asset Recovery) & ANCIR (The African Network of Centres for Investigative Reporting) in investigative data journalism aided training.
He is a media trainer. Among others, he was trained by DW Akademie.
He is a correspondent for the Associated Press, ITAfricaweb.
He has worked as Chief Reporter and Bureau Chief for Times Media Group responsible for the Central Region - which covers the capital city Lilongwe. Previously, he was Senior Reporter for Blantyre Newspapers Limited or BNL Times which publishes The Daily Times established in 1895, The Business Times (defunct), The Weekend Times (Tabloid - also defunct), Malawi News (1959) and The Sunday Times. The company also publishes a quarterly Times Life Styles Magazine (defunct) and it also runs Times National Television and Times Radio.
He previously worked as Regional Editor and Chief Reporter for Zodiak Broadcasting Station.
Initially, he joined The Chronicle as a senior reporter as well as Features Desk Head but before it disbanded in 2006, he was its Sub-Editor and Health Editor. He is a stringer for the African News Dimension network and Groundreport.com but also worked as a Malawi correspondent for the Windhoek-based The Southern Times.
Currently, he corresponds for BizCommunity online daily news.
He started practising journalism in 1993 when the country was undergoing transition from one-party dictatorial rule to multi-party democracy whilst he was still pursuing his secondary school education.
Briefly, his career spans through newspaper reporting where he has produced quality news and feature stories for major publishing houses for the country's daily newspapers: The Nation and The Daily Times, two weeklies, Malawi News and The Weekend Nation, besides stringing for the country's public broadcaster, the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation.
