Ilyas Yourish is a filmmaker, multimedia journalist and producer from Kabul.
Since 2019, he has been working full-time as a filmmaker. In previous years, he was shaped by his work as a research coordinator, researcher and data analyst for projects on extremism, radicalisation and mobilisation, women's rights and the dynamics of power, security and local governance in conflict-affected districts, among others.
Over the past decade, Ilyas has travelled extensively in Afghanistan, gaining unique access to and in-depth knowledge of his homeland. These experiences have profoundly influenced his artistic explorations. His projects have been supported by renowned film foundations and festivals and have been shown in Europe and North America.
