Irene van der Linde (1963) is a Dutch journalist and writer.
Irene van der Linde (1963) joined the editorial team of De Groene Amsterdammer in 2012. She studied history at the University of Amsterdam and worked for many years as a freelance writer and journalist for various daily and weekly newspapers. Together with documentary photographer Nicole Segers, Van der Linde has been exploring Europe's borders since 2001. She has published about these journeys to the periphery of the European Union in publications such as Vrij Nederland and De Standaard and has written the books Het einde van Europa: Ontmoetingen langs de nieuwe oostgrens (Lemniscaat 2004) - nominated for the Prix du Livre Européen in French translation - and Het veer van Istanbul: Ontmoetingen langs de Bosporus (Lemniscaat 2010). Both books are a combination of literary non-fiction and photo-documentary. Van der Linde is currently working on the final part of this border trilogy, following in the footsteps of Rebecca West in the Western Balkans. Van der Linde is also co-founder and president of the Narrative Journalism Netherlands Foundation.
