Jakub Zelenka

Jakub Zelenka is an investigative journalist from the Czech Republic.

He specialises in security and politics. He has won three journalism awards, mainly for his reporting on the hybrid influence of Russia and China in the Czech Republic. In 2024, he co-founded Page Not Found with Apolena Rychlíková, a media company focused on slow journalism and long-form journalism.

Roma women have been fighting for justice for over twenty years. The government apologised for illegal sterilisations only in 2021, but to date has not passed any law on compensation.

Two States, One Common Injustice

BRATISLAVA/PRAGUE – The project "Two States, One Common Injustice: Uncovering the Legacy of Coercive Sterilisation of Roma Women" focused on investigating the different legal approaches to involuntary sterilisation of Roma women in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The research confirmed that although coercive sterilisation took place on the territory of one state, the legislation dealing with compensation for victims was different.
