Leon Spring (a pseudonym) is an itinerary freelance journalist focusing on border violence and the restriction of international asylum globally.

He works on people-led stories, often co-authoring with citizen journalists and accessing direct testimonies from people smugglers and border guards. He started the Cracks in the Fortress research project and previously reported for the Migration Trials investigation and for the ‘Beyond Trafficking and Slavery’ section at openDemocracy.
