Leoni Bender is a German freelance environmental journalist based in Hamburg. She specialises in in-depth investigations into environmental issues and their global interconnections.

Her work has been published by Der Spiegel, CORRECTIV, Die Zeit, Krautreporter, Atmo, Flip and other outlets. She is also an active member of the Network for Climate Journalism, helping to publish the newsletter.

Leoni holds master's degrees in Sustainable Communication and Investigative Journalism, both from Swedish universities: Jönköping University and the University of Gothenburg.
