Lesley Evans Ogden is a freelance science journalist and trainer from Canada.

Lesley Evans Ogden is a freelance science journalist based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where she is a settler on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nations.

Captivated by the natural world and its stories, she primarily writes about living organisms but also covers non-living subjects, including dinosaurs, energy, and climate. Her work often explores quirky animal behaviour, wildlife conservation, and environmental health. She has also written extensively about the challenges of freelancing. Fascinated by the intersection of science, human rights, Indigenous knowledge, and policy, she incorporates photography and videography into field reporting. She enjoys collaboration and actively engages across various media formats, including print, web, audio, video, and television.

Her writing has appeared internationally in publications such as The New York Times, BBC Future, Natural History, BioScience, Nature, Science, Knowable, Science News, Scientific American, and National Geographic, among others.

Available for speaking and teaching engagements, she has trained numerous scientists in effectively engaging with science journalists and improving their science communication skills.
