Michael Billig is a freelance journalist from Leipzig (Germany).

He is Germany's leading journalist in covering illegal waste management practises. Michael's investigations have been published on different channels. He writes for print and online media, for example "Berliner Zeitung", "Business Insider" and "Greenpeace Magazin". Michael also works as Co-Author for private and public broadcasting stations such as "RTL Television" and "Norddeutscher Rundfunk" (NDR).

His book about the German waste mafia (Schwarz.Rot.Müll. Die schmutzigen Deals der deutschen Müllmafia) was released in 2019 by the famous publisher Verlag Herder. He furthermore runs the special interest blog muellrausch.de.
