Nerminka Emrić is a Bosnian television journalist and documentary filmmaker with a 28-year career spanning war reporting, breaking news, and investigative storytelling.
She studied political science before moving into television journalism, where she covered political affairs and reported live from the front lines during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992–1995), as well as from Kosovo and Afghanistan. She has worked for Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal TV, and currently serves as an editor at Television Sarajevo (TVSA), where she oversees news programming.
Alongside her television work, Emrić has built a distinguished career in documentary film. Her film Sve sa voljom (All with Love), which tells the story of an elderly couple on the Croatian island of Mljet who hand-dug a 90-metre channel through rock to save their flooding field, premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2018 and went on to screen at the History Film Festival in Rijeka, AJB DOC, and the "Prvi kadar" International Film Festival, winning multiple audience and jury awards. Her documentary Majke i sinovi (Mothers and Sons), about the mothers of Srebrenica, was produced for TVSA. Her most recent film, Komšije (Neighbours), which explores life along the Drina River border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and its connection to today's migrant routes, won Best Film in its selection at the AJB DOC Film Festival.
Emrić received a journalism award for investigative reporting from Transparency International in 2008. She is known for her ability to build trust with the people she interviews, drawing out honest and often difficult personal testimonies in both her news reporting and documentary work.
