Reinier van Oorsouw is a Dutch photographer and filmmaker.

Reinier van Oorsouw specialises in narrative storytelling with a focus on human interest within the non-profit sector of journalism. Since 2008, as a visual storyteller, he has been capturing the human side of global crises, producing stories for organisations such as UNICEF, UNDP and UNHCR in more than 120 countries.

His journalistic work, for publications including The Guardian, L’édition du Soir and OneWorld, focuses on major social issues, ranging from Ebola to the consequences of climate change and water scarcity, to pressing issues surrounding human rights and the refugee crisis. With his camera, he travels to the most remote corners of our planet, from the Somali desert and Afghanistan to the icy plains of Antarctica.

In his documentaries and photo reports, he explores human resilience under extreme conditions and brings to light under-reported stories from the very fabric of society. The personal story of those affected always forms the heart of the narrative in his visual storytelling.
