Sangar Khaleel is an Iraqi Kurdish journalist, producer, and fixer.

Sangar uses his deep local knowledge, fluency in Arabic, Kurdish, and English, and an extensive network of contacts to help bring some of Iraq's most important stories to international audiences. He didn't set out to become a journalist — but when war came to Mosul, the city where he grew up, he became an indispensable guide for correspondents arriving to document the rise and fall of ISIS. Since then, he has become one of the most prominent fixers in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, working as a go-to man for the BBC, NPR, and the New York Times, with his own words and photography also appearing in the international press. In 2019, he won the Kurt Schork Award in International Journalism – one of the field's most prestigious recognitions for fixers. He is currently based in Erbil.
