He holds a Master's degree in Communication from the Ecuador branch of the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO), as well as Bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Gastronomy from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito. A specialist in narrative journalism and non-fiction literature, he writes about culture and society, and has recently focused on food and related topics.

His work, consisting primarily of text and photography, has been published in some of the most prestigious media outlets in Latin America, including Gatopardo, Etiqueta Negra, Rolling Stone, Travesías, Mundo Diners, La Tercera and El Universal. He is a former scholar of the Gabo Foundation (formerly the FNPI) and was nominated twice (in 2016 and 2018) for the Gabriel García Márquez Journalism Award, the most prestigious award in the field in Ibero-America, which is granted by that foundation.

He is the author of El periodismo cultural en los medios ecuatorianos (2012) and El fotógrafo de las tinieblas y otras crónicas de Paris, for which he received the José Peralta Award for the Best Journalistic Work in Ecuador in 2018. He is also the author of Amasar: The Story of the Cyrano Bakery (2019) and the co-author of El libro de las huecas (2012), a book about popular food in Quito.
