Basta! is a free-access, French digital media outlet located in France.
Founded in 2008, the media outlet has dedicated itself to covering ecological and social issues. It is best known for its long-form investigative articles on topics of public interest such as working conditions, public services, police violence, corporate lobbying, industrial agriculture, and public health.
Published by the non-profit organisation Alter-médias, Basta! generates 85% of its revenue from 5,000 donors annually. Although based in Montreuil (a suburb of Paris), the newsroom operates in a decentralised way, with permanent and freelance journalists based across several regions of France, particularly in medium-sized cities and rural areas.
