Chronicles.Media is an investigative media outlet,  launched in 2022 by Russian political activists and independent journalists.

We are creating honest research based on open data (public procurement, property and legal entity registers) about how our officials actually spend taxpayers' money, who holds high positions in state-owned companies, and how the successes and achievements of individuals are related to their relatives and money. We believe that corruption can only be defeated by making these crimes public.

The chronicle is written by professionals. We know and understand the context of the Russian Northwest. Our team consists of people with decades of experience in investigating corruption at various levels - from violations in the procurement of a small municipality to the purchase of luxurious dachas that do not fit into an official's salary budget. Every word we say is documented.

Chronicles is an independent project. There are no forbidden subjects, no authorities and no censorship. We talk about corruption honestly, openly and based on facts.

Our goal is to influence the current situation by creating a chronicle of Russian theft. We do not go to the state with complaints and we do not call for protests. We take a different approach: we dig into official archives and open sources and collect dossiers on politically important people from the flow of information.

RIGA - In February 2023, the European Union agreed on the 10th package of sanctions against Russian goods, including the import of bitumen. Despite these bans, 29,5 thousand tonnes of bitumen worth $7.8 million were exported from Russia to Latvia in 2023, as calculated by The Chronicles.Media using data from the customs database.
