DAmedia (publicly CHAYKA) is a non‑profit society founded in 2018 in Daugavpils.
It runs an independent regional newsroom publishing in Russian and Latvian and is the only independent newsroom in Latgale providing Russian-language content.
In May 2026, the website reached more than 100,000 monthly users, with a growing Latvian-speaking segment. CHAYKA also engages large audiences on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Telegram.
CHAYKA follows strict editorial ethics, has a public editorial code and has been a member of the Latvian Media Ethics Council since February 2025.
