What is the impact?
The project was a prototype of how independent local journalism can be extended to peri-urban communities, if there is adequate funding. However, in this context, this is just a drizzle of rain in the overall landscape of news deserts in rural and peri-urban areas surrounding the city of Iași, Romania.
The biggest change is the acknowledgement that these peri-urban communities and municipalities are not marginalised, and that at least some of the issues and joys of peri-urban living have been reflected in the series, through thoughtful storytelling.
