BRUSSELS – The Journalismfund.eu application deadline, initially planned for 16 September, has been postponed to Monday 21 October. Applications that have already been submitted will of course automatically be valid for the new deadline.

The decision to postpone the deadline was made in view of our being in the final stage of discussions with a large donor. Support from this donor would enable us to hold regular calls for proposal in the years ahead and a larger sum to distribute in the autumn 2013 round.

The negotiations are planned to be concluded in the following days.

The new deadline will be Monday 21 October 2013, 9 am, Brussels time. Journalists who have already submitted an application, do not need to re-apply.

Bringing tools for investigations

An investigation made by Carlotta Indiano and Ariane Lavrilleux  showed that the world’s steel leader ArcelorMittal has exceeded several pollution limits authorized by European, Italian and French law for a decade. Meanwhile, the company headquartered in Luxembourg has received billions euros of public funds and indirect subsidies.
