BRUSSELS - Wouter Van Driessche, journalist for Belgian financial daily De Tijd, received the Benelux Citi Journalistic Excellence Award on Thursday April 23rd in Luxembourg. The prize is a seminar at the Columbia Journalism School.

The Citi Journalistic Excellence Award honours outstanding financial and economic reporting. This year, for the first time, Citi organised the award in a Benelux edition, in collaboration with Journalismfund.eu. Winners were first elected in all three Benelux countries separately and then competed each other for the main prize: a seminar at the Columbia Journalism School.

Van Driessche won the award for his article 'De Ongerusten'. The runners-up, Jeroen Molenaar from Dutch financial daily Het Financieele Dagblad and Christophe Langenbrink from Luxemburger Wort, were not left empty-handed. They both receive a €5,000 Citi and Journalismfund.eu research grant that they can spend on a cross-border investigation in Europe. Moreover, they can attend Journalismfund.eu's Dataharvest Conference free of charge.
