BRUSSELS – Investigative journalist Marina Walker, deputy director of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and project manager of their recent #LuxLeaks investigation, will be speaking at Journalismfund.eu’s Dataharvest Conference in May 2015.

Together with a number of European ICIJ members and the Dataharvest participants, Walker will consider ideas on how to follow up and further develop investigations into and the coverage of tax evasions.

Walker is the project manager of ICIJ’s Luxembourg Leaks investigation, which exposed for the first time on a global scale how Luxembourg works as a tax haven in the middle of Europe. More than 80 reporters in 26 countries collaborated with ICIJ, making it one of the better examples of cross-border collaboration. They analysed close to 28,000 pages of leaked confidential documents that lay out the special tax deals granted by the government of Luxembourg to some of the world’s largest corporations.

Marina Walker has over 15 years experience in investigative journalism. She has reported from several different countries, winning or sharing over 20 national and international awards. She was previously in charge of ICIJ’s global #OffshoreLeaks investigation.

Dataharvest+ is the most relevant event for investigative and data journalists in Europe. The 2015 edition will take place in Brussels, Belgium, from 8 to 10 May. Register and pay before 1 January 2015 to enjoy the reduced earliest bird participation fee of €95!
