SARAJEVO - Journalismfund Europe attended the third Editors' Forum, held in Sarajevo on 14–15 May under the theme "Journalism Without Borders", which brought together editors, senior journalists and civil society media representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo.

The event centred on the growing importance of cross-border reporting, which is increasingly seen not merely as one approach amongst many, but as a vital tool for both investigative journalism and the financial sustainability of media outlets across the region. Ronald Tipan shared the grant programmes that are available for journalists and media outlets and emphasised the importance of cross-border collaboration.

Speakers offered insights into available funding streams for cross-border projects, alongside first-hand accounts from the field. Whilst many newsrooms in the Western Balkans have traditionally shied away from such collaborations due to their logistical and financial demands. Participants were introduced to grant opportunities designed to support those with a clear story idea and an established reporting team — helping to lower some of the barriers that have historically made cross-border work feel out of reach.

The forum provided a rare opportunity for editors from across the region to connect, exchange experiences and explore potential future collaborations.
