BRUSSELS - The cross-border project highlighting how EU funding is contributing to the discrimination of Roma communities receives its second award.

In Hungary, the "Poverty with Dignity Press Award" gave a special prize to the investigation published by 444.hu, "„Akkor szabadulunk innen, ha meghalunk” – így erősítik a kirekesztést és az előítéletességet a romáknak nyújtott uniós támogatások."

The award was created by the Esély Labor Association and is aimed at recognising "journalistic works that write about poverty and social problems in a nuanced manner." The organising body states that "The jury is composed of experienced jury members who are well-versed in the situation of those affected."

The project "EU Funds Meant for Inclusion are Fuelling Roma Marginalisation" received funding from Jorunalismfund in 2025 and was led by journalists Báthory Róbert, Kadét Ernő, Fülöp Zsófia, Mihail Mishev, Ronald Rodrigues and Vittoria Torsello.
