Is Africa really poor? Are all Africans long-distance runners? Do they all want to come to Europe? Through conversations with countless Africans, from “ordinary” people to experts, but also based on their own experiences on the ground, De Rop and Rottiers discovered a continent bursting with ambition and creativity. But they also observed that it is struggling against a history that stands in its way and powers that are being played off against each other.
