GUINGAMP - The primary targets are Brittany-based French-speaking and Breton-speaking
people. It focuses on local environmental and social issues but it can have an impact on a national scale thanks to our media partners.

We conduct long written investigations. This format is demanding because it requires time and concentration from readers. That is the reason why we want to develop more video formats to increase the impact of our articles, reach new audiences, and expand our growing community of readers and donors online.

"Splann !" is a Brittany-based investigative and non-profit web-based media outlet. We advocate for investigative and independent journalism. We intend to serve citizens and to initiate positive changes in terms of ecological transition, democracy and human rights (women’s and minority rights for example).

Our media outlet works on the long term to get people to see the bigger picture in a peripheral region dominated by the agri-food industry and tourism. We are particularly interested in agricultural and industrial pollution, civil liberties and integrity violations.

Goals (Expected) of the Project

We expect to increase the impact of our articles, reach new audiences, especially young people who are more keen on consuming videos and social media, and expand our community of readers and followers in Brittany.

We aim to reach more Breton-speaking people as well because this endangered language has to be more visible and heard to be able to survive.

The more our pieces are read and spread, the broader our audience is and it strengthens democracy because we publish news one cannot get in local newspapers nowadays in Brittany. Privately funded, they restrain the access of information of public interest. That’s the core of our media.
